Local Vermonter Competes in Paris Olympics
Elle Purrier St. Pierre from Montgomery Vermont (a few miles down the road from our sugarhouse) made it through the quarter finals and the semifinals and finished 8th overall in the woman's 1500 meters at the Paris Olympics. Ellie has deep ties to rural Vermont farming and maple sugaring and we are so proud of her representing us at the Olympics.
Elle grew up on a dairy farm in Montgomery Center and went to Richford High School where she excelled at track and cross-country, winning the New England Cross Country Championship. She then went to college at the University of New Hampshire where she became a NCAA track star in middle distance running.
Since graduating college in 2018 Elle has competed internationally, winning numerous races and setting several American records. She married her longtime boyfriend Jamie St. Pierre in 2020 and gave birth to their son in March 2023. Like many dairy farmers in Vermont, they also have a maple sugaring operation in the spring. There's no way to prove it, but we believe the Vermont maple syrup that Elle consumes as part of her training diet is a big part of her success!
