Barred Woods Maple Awarded USDA Grant to Expand Food Processing Facility
We’re honored to share that Barred Woods Maple has been awarded an infrastructure grant through the USDA’s Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure (RFSI) program, administered by the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets. This national initiative supports local and regional food systems across the United States by investing in critical infrastructure for food producers, processors, and distributors. This support will help us build a 6,000-square-foot commercial food processing facility in Belvidere, Vermont along side of our existing maple sugarhouse. A little over a year ago, a movie licenser working on a Netflix Rom-Com film called 'The Life List' contacted us about a 'product placement' opportunity. They were shooting in a scene set in Burlington VT (though filmed in upstate NY) and were creating a store-front. The film's art director discovered our brand and hoped to include many of our products. We of course were very honored and excited to be in a movie! Lisa's Maple Coated Nuts
Ingredients 2 Cups of Mixed Nuts. Any type of nut is ok, we like almonds, walnuts, pecans, cashews, and pistachios. You can make mixed batches or a patch of all one type like cashews. 1/2 Cup Maple Syrup (I like amber but if you want a stronger maple flavor try dark maple syrup). Directions Roasted Nuts - Spread 2 cups of mixed nuts on a shallow cookie sheets. Place in oven at 350 deg F and roast for 12-15 minutes. Jericho Center has a classic Vermont village green, lined with massive ancient sugar maple trees. Across the green the Jericho Center Country Store has been in operation since 1807.
