As part of the sale a permanent conservation easement was placed on the land, ensuring that it will remain open to public access and that the forest will be managed sustainably.
Barred Woods intends to use this property to expand its pure Vermont maple syrup production capacity while at the same time keeping the forest intact for wildlife such as bear and moose and for ecological functions such as watershed protection and helping to fight climate change through carbon sequestration.
